The 2026 Gold Proof Sovereign PF70 Ultra Cameo marks a highly anticipated moment in modern sovereign history with the return to the traditional yellow gold appearance, a feature widely welcomed by collectors after recent years of paler proof finishes.

Struck in 22 carat gold by The Royal Mint, the 2026 proof sovereign combines classic sovereign heritage with modern proof striking standards. The warmer yellow gold tone restores the familiar look long associated with historic proof sovereigns, enhancing both visual depth and collector appeal.

This example has been graded PF70 Ultra Cameo by NGC, the highest grade achievable. PF70 confirms a flawless coin under magnification, with crisp frosted devices and deep mirrored fields, representing the finest quality available for this issue.

The reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci’s timeless St George and the Dragon design, while the obverse carries the definitive portrait of King Charles III, making this coin an important modern issue within the sovereign series.

WHY COLLECT THE 2026 PROOF SOVEREIGN?

The return to a richer yellow gold tone makes the 2026 proof sovereign particularly desirable among collectors who prefer the traditional appearance of historic sovereign issues. Combined with a flawless PF70 Ultra Cameo grade, this coin appeals strongly to collectors focused on quality, consistency and long-term desirability.

Modern proof sovereigns achieving PF70 Ultra Cameo remain scarce, as even minimal imperfections prevent coins from reaching this top grade. As a result, top-graded examples are increasingly sought after for advanced collections and registry sets.
