2025 Royal Arms Gold Proof Quarter Sovereign – NGC PF69 Ultra Cameo
This 2025 Quarter Sovereign carries a faithfully remastered version of Jean Baptiste Merlen's ornate Royal Arms shield design, first used on the 1825 Sovereign and now revived 200 years on. The reverse retains its original Latin legend, "ARMA GEORGII IV BRITANNIARUM REGIS", preserved as part of the remastering process, and marks the first time Merlen's historic design has appeared alongside a King's portrait on The Sovereign.
The obverse carries Martin Jennings' official coinage portrait of His Majesty King Charles III. This coin is also part of the final year of Sovereigns struck in The Royal Mint's distinctive rose gold alloy, with the range returning to traditional yellow gold from 2026 onward.
Graded NGC PF69 Ultra Cameo, this coin offers the same historic 200th-anniversary design and final-year rose gold finish as our top-graded PF70 example, at a more accessible price point.

Why This Coin Stands Out
With a mintage of only 1,535 and available exclusively within Sovereign proof sets, this Quarter Sovereign is already a scarce piece before grading is considered. A PF69 grade delivers the same historic 200th-anniversary design and final rose gold finish as a top-graded example, making it a strong value entry point into the 2025 Royal Arms range.
As UK legal tender gold, this coin is exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents and free from VAT under current investment gold rules. Browse our full range of graded gold Sovereigns to compare grades and find the right piece for your collection.
