Released in 2021 to mark over 150 years since the first publication of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, this quarter-ounce gold proof coin was the first coin in The Royal Mint's history to celebrate the story — created in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum and unveiled alongside the original illustrations at the V&A's "Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser" exhibition.
The reverse, designed by Royal Mint product designer Ffion Gwillim, adapts one of Sir John Tenniel's original illustrations from the book: Alice, seen from behind, encountering the grinning Cheshire Cat among the branches of a tree — the scene in which the Cat first directs her toward the March Hare's house. The design carries the lettering "ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND" beneath the branches. It was the first of a two-coin series that year, followed shortly after by a companion coin marking the sequel, Through the Looking-Glass.
The obverse carries Jody Clark's fifth and final definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This coin is supplied boxed in its original Royal Mint presentation case with a numbered certificate of authenticity, to Fleur de Coin (FDC) standard — the Royal Mint's own designation for a flawless proof strike, as issued.

Returns Policy

If an item is returned for reasons other than being not as described, return postage will be the responsibility of the buyer.
