This is a complete five-coin set of the 2022 Platinum Jubilee Gold Proof Sovereign collection — Quarter Sovereign, Half Sovereign, full Sovereign, Double Sovereign and Quintuple Sovereign — with every coin individually certified NGC PF70 Ultra Cameo, the maximum attainable grade. Assembling all five denominations at the top possible grade is a genuine achievement, particularly given the set's limited availability and rapid sell-out on release.

Each coin carries a one-year-only reverse design by heraldic artist Timothy Noad, authorised to mark Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee — the first time any British monarch had reached 70 years on the throne. Rather than the traditional Saint George and the Dragon, the design presents an interpretation of the Royal Coat of Arms: a crowned, quartered shield supported by the Lion of England and the Unicorn of Scotland, with the date shown at the base. It was Noad's third Sovereign commission, following his earlier work on the 2002 Golden Jubilee and 2005 designs — a hat-trick he described as a huge privilege.

The obverse across all five coins carries Jody Clark's fifth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II — notably the final Sovereign portrait issued before her death in September 2022, giving this set added historical significance as the closing chapter of her coinage.

Why This Set Stands Out

The 2022 Platinum Jubilee Sovereign marks a genuinely historic milestone — the first Platinum Jubilee of any British monarch — and its Quintuple Sovereign was never sold individually, making this five-coin set the only route to owning the largest denomination in the range. With a mintage of just 700 and a design that closes out Jody Clark's portrait era, a complete set at PF70 Ultra Cameo represents both technical perfection and a meaningful piece of numismatic history.

As UK legal tender gold, these coins are exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents and free from VAT under current investment gold rules. Browse our full range of graded gold Sovereigns to explore more one-year-only designs and complete sets.

Can I verify the coin's grade?

Yes. Every NGC-certified coin has a unique certification number visible on the slab label. You can verify the grade, coin details and population data at NGCcoin.uk using the cert number shown.

What is the population or top pop figure?

The NGC census records how many examples of each coin have been graded at each level. A Top Pop coin means no other example has achieved a higher grade — making it the finest certified specimen in existence for that issue.

Do you offer part exchange?

Yes. We accept all proof coins and graded coins in part exchange, including NGC and PCGS certified coins, boxed gold and silver proofs, and proof sets.

Tell us what you'd like to trade and which coin you have your eye on, and we'll give you a bespoke cost-to-change valuation.
