The 2019 Gold Proof Double Sovereign continues The Royal Mint’s long tradition of numismatic excellence, featuring Benedetto Pistrucci’s classic St George and the Dragon reverse. Struck in 22 carat gold to the highest proof standard, this coin was issued in limited numbers and never released into circulation.
This example has been professionally graded PF70 Ultra Cameo by NGC – the highest grade awarded to proof coins. It displays flawless surfaces and exceptional contrast between the frosted devices and deep mirrored fields.
The obverse features Jody Clark’s fifth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, introduced in 2015. As part of a limited edition presentation, the 2019 Double Sovereign is an important addition for collectors building complete proof runs or top-grade registry sets.
